Overview The mattress arrived rolled (Daisy Lester )I’m a notoriously bad sleeper and wake up easily, so I’m always cautious about mattresses that claim to improve sleep quality. But the Eve wunderflip ultimate hybrid sleep mattress genuinely impressed me, particularly when it came to movement isolation and overall comfort.Initial thoughts Delivery was straightforward and far easier than expected considering how heavy the mattress is. The wunderflip is rolled up in a box – which the team carries upstairs for you – and after unpacking, you simply leave it to expand for around three or four hours before sleeping on it.Visually, it looks sleek and modern with Eve Sleep’s signature yellow shade on the topper zip. It boasts a much more premium feel than some hybrid mattresses I’ve tested. Once dressed with bedding, it gives the whole bed a polished, hotel-style look.Firmness and pressure relief The mattress itself feels substantial. It’s deep, supportive and noticeably weighty, which adds to the sense of quality. The wunderflip’s star design feature is that it offers two firmness options in one mattress. You can choose between a slightly firmer or softer feel depending on your preference: simple flip the mattress (there are handles on the side for ease). I found the firmer side ideal – it’s supportive without feeling rigid. There’s not too much of a difference with the softer side, which feels slightly more bouncy but equally supportive. Those who are particularly sensitive will notice more of a difference. Once flipped, the removable cover (it can be machine washed at 40 degrees, too) must be zipped onto the new top layer. This process is a little fiddly, but worth the pay-off – it’s soft, lightly cushioned and breathable. Each side is clearly labelled with its firmness (Daisy Lester )In terms of comfort, it strikes an excellent balance between firm and cushioning. My body felt properly aligned throughout the night, especially around my back and hips, but there was still enough softness from the top layers to feel comfortable and cosy around my shoulders. I found myself settling into a comfortable sleeping position much faster than with previous mattresses, with far less tossing and readjusting before falling asleep.Edge support When it comes to edge support, I never felt like I was slipping off the side of the mattress or rolling toward the middle during the night, which I’ve experienced with softer designs before. However, the mattress’ stability on the bed frame isn’t great – it often moved position overnight and needed recentering in the morning. Motion transfer As someone who’s easily disrupted during the night, motion isolation was one of the areas I was most concerned about. Thankfully, the weight distribution across the mattress is excellent. If one person moves, turns over or gets out of bed, the movement barely transfers to the other side. There’s none of that overly bouncy feel that some hybrid mattresses can have, which made a huge difference to my sleep quality.Temperature regulation I’m usually sceptical about temperature-regulating claims. But the combination of breathable foams and pocket springs in the Eve mattress allowed for good airflow, and I never felt clammy during the night. The quilted top layer adds softness without trapping heat, which helps avoid the usual overheating and constant repositioning that can interrupt sleep. During hot weather, I found sleeping with the window open allowed for more sweet relief than the mattress itself – I didn’t notice any temperature regulation in these extra balmy conditions. But for year-round sleep, it’s a great all-rounder. Maintenance Maintenance is simple too. It’s a single-sided mattress, so there’s no need to flip it – unless you want to alternate the soft and firm sides – but rotating it occasionally helps keep wear evenly distributed over time.
