Kolkata: Flagging irregularities in previous Trinamool Congress government’s flagship social welfare schemes, including ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’, minority scholarship and widow assistance schemes in West Bengal, the state's new BJP Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said at a programme in Nandigram that men have received widow pension and several lakhs of men have received money under ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ in the previous Trinamool regime.“A transparent system will help the rural and marginalized people to get benefits of the central and state-run schemes. We will ensure that the benefits of the state's welfare scheme only reach the genuine beneficiaries,” Adhikari said.“Last government’s corruption and irregularities have been huge. Men have received widow pension. In Murshidabad’s Domkal 3,500 fake accounts were created, where money was transferred for Minority scholarship schemes. In the Trinamool government’s regime, in ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ scheme, lakhs of fake accounts of people have been identified, which include names of non-Indians, Absent Shifted, Dead, Duplicate voters in electoral lists have been identified,” Adhikari said.Meanwhile, altogether, 89 lakh women have received money under Annapurnar Yojana in June till date, CM said, adding Bangladeshi infiltrators should not get benefits of Annapurnar Yojana.The state government has started MGNREGA in the state, which had faced major roadblock during the last Trinamool government’s regime. “We have started 100 days’ work from June for the next 20 days, for which the Centre has already allocated Rs 700 crore. From next month Rs 8500 crore has been allocated by the Centre and GRAMG will be started from next month. Altogether, 125 man days of work will be received by people,” he said.In a bid to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12-year milestone, the Bengal government has started a slew of programmes in Bengal in line with the country to celebrate the record milestone.“We have taken several programmes. On June 5 ‘Mayer Naame Gachh”, a plantation programme was undertaken and we will plant 10 crore new trees and preserve them,” Adhikari said. “Another programme has been undertaken, starting from June 15-17, where 1100 ‘Jana Kalyan Shibir or camps will be organized where 54 important schemes related services and help will be provided in connection with several welfare programmes-for farmers, women and students and all sections of the society. Transparency is the main aim and modern technologies will be used for services,” Adhikari told people as he kicked off one such camp in Nandigram.
