After stepping in as an interim leader during an institutional crisis in 2023, University of Pennsylvania president Larry Jameson announced Friday that he will step down next summer.
Penn lifted the interim tag in 2025, but now Jameson says he will leave when his contract expires next June, as planned.
He took the helm at a time when Penn faced sharp scrutiny from lawmakers over how it had handled concerns about antisemitism on campus. He replaced former president Liz Magill, who was skewered by lawmakers during a congressional hearing on antisemitism. Jameson was appointed interim when she stepped down amid the controversy.
