Springbok flyhalf Manie Libbok should be the No 10 in charge on Saturday against the Barbarians, but the Springboks and SA ‘A’ side will have some promising young pivots to play as backup.

The Springboks and South Africa ‘A’ side will have a flyhalf and lock selection dilemma ahead of their season-opening international matches against the Barbarians and Zimbabwe this Saturday in Gqeberha.

While the clashes present the head coach Rassie Erasmus with a variety of players to choose from, particularly a handful of promising youngsters, the depth at No 10 and in the second row will be tested at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Currently, Manie Libbok is the only fit flyhalf available, with Handré Pollard involved in the United Rugby Championship (URC) final on Friday evening in Dublin. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Jordan Hendrikse will miss the opening fixtures through injury.

The Boks can field several promising youngsters on Saturday, but the likelihood is that Libbok will be the only specialist flyhalf in the side to face the Barbarians. That could open the door for Junior Springboks Vusi Moyo and Yaqeen Ahmed to feature for the SA ‘A’ side, coached by Mzwandile Stick.
