I I work for a creative agency in London. My boss founded the agency and definitely has an inflated ego as a result. I can only describe him as a bit of a monster.

I don’t mind someone having a big head as long as they also treat people with decency, but he’s incapable of doing it. A true narcissist. Those he likes in his inner circle, he showers with praise. Those he doesn’t, he makes it obvious and makes their lives hell. I fall into the latter bracket.

He constantly makes passive-aggressive remarks and has been known to “forget” me in important email chains or meetings, so I’m left scrambling at the last minute or have to work at weekends to get “urgent” tasks done.

Often, I’m not clued into big projects at all until the later stages, even though I’m senior. It happened recently where I had no idea we were working with a new, quite big-name client. And in front of everyone, he said: “You’re a director in the company, isn’t this the sort of thing you’re supposed to know?” I was so embarrassed.

In meetings when I talk, he looks visibly bored and will yawn or start talking to someone else. All my colleagues feel very awkward about it but obviously want to stay on his good side.
