The surplus came despite a wider merchandise trade deficit of $27.9 billion in April 2026, compared with $27.1 billion a year earlier. Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke slapped during protest in JaipurAccording to police, on Monday, during a demonstration in Jaipur, several people allegedly slapped founder Abhijeet Dipke of the Cockroach Janta Party while his supporters carried him on their shoulders.Officials stated that at least two young men have been detained and further investigation is presently taking place.The incident occurred at Shaheed Smarak where a substantial number of young people had gathered for the demonstration. Some young men in the crowd allegedly slapped Dipke just as he arrived at the site of the demonstration, being carried by his supporters on their shoulders.Following the alleged attack on Dipke, his supporters physically confronted the alleged attackers and assaulted them until police arrived on the scene.According to police, two young men have been detained regarding this incident.Protestors carried signs denouncing corruption and the paper leak and called for action to address youth-related issues.During this demonstration, protestors chanted for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign.The CJP organized this demonstration to bring attention to issues related to examination irregularities, paper leaks and unemployment and other issues, according to the police.(Source: PTI)16 fertiliser-laden ships bound for India stuck in Hormuz Strait: GovernmentBandana Preyashi, joint secretary in the fertilisers ministry, on Monday said that six ships transporting fertiliser to India have become stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. Eight ships containing 330,00 metric ton sof urea, four ships with 257,000 metric tons of di-ammonium phosphate, one ship with ammonia, and three ships with 110,000 metric tons of sulphur are currently located in the Straits of Hormuz."To assist local agricultural producers during the agricultural summer growing seasons, the Government of India has sourced from world markets 5 million metric tons of crop nutrient fertilizers and has increased domestic production," said Preyashi at a press conference.India has also placed a global tender for importing 1.7 million metric tons of urea."As of now, we do not expect any major supply constraints regarding availability of fertiliser products for planting during this open season," she said, noting that India is projected to consume 38.39 million metric tons of fertiliser through the remainder of the growing season.(Source: Reuters)Kerala Governor Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister V D Satheesan to lead self-enumeration as Census 2027 beginsThe governor of Kerala, Vishwanath Arlekar, and Chief Minister V D Satheesan will participate in the self-enumeration process on Tuesday of this week prior to the 2027 census.
