Elmo couldn’t pick a side between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks, but the Cookie Monster did. Now, he’s holding the trophy and taunting Elmo for his indecisiveness.Just before the NBA Finals, Elmo, the famous Muppet from the children’s show “Sesame Street,” gave his best wishes on X to both the Knicks and the Spurs.“Elmo hopes both teams have fun!”That’s fine and all, except they don’t play both sides where Elmo’s from.The Knicks went on to beat the Spurs in five games behind the play of NBA Finals MVP guard Jalen Brunson. Brunson scored 45 points as the Knicks closed out the Spurs Saturday night with a 94-90 win in San Antonio. He joins late Hall of Famer Willis Reed (1973, 1970) as the only players in franchise history to win NBA Finals MVP.
With the finals trophy in hand for the Knicks, the Cookie Monster didn’t forget Elmo’s flexible fandom Sunday morning.

So when Elmo sent well-wishes to the Knicks’ finals opponent, thousands of New York fans were outraged, including the official New York City Department of Transportation, which sent a tweet jokingly threatening to take down the official Sesame Street sign located at the intersection of West 63rd Street and Broadway.
