Senator Mitch McConnell, 84, rushed to the hospital

David Popp, representing the 84-year-old former Republican Senate majority leader, did not elaborate on McConnell’s condition.

Former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced earlier this year that he is planning to retire at the end of his term.

Former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, was admitted to the hospital June 14.

Mitch McConnell is in the hospital. That word comes Sunday from the Kentucky senator's spokesperson.

A statement issued by Mitch McConnell spokesperson David Popp said the senator is "receiving excellent care" at the hospital.

McConnell, 84, was previously hospitalized in February.
