A source privy to the case has criticised the judgment of the Borno State High Court in Maiduguri involving members of the ‘Zanga Zanga’ protest group, describing it as unjust and excessive, particularly in relation to the five-year prison sentences handed to some of the defendants.

Background of the Case

Court documents from the High Court of Justice of Borno State, Maiduguri Judicial Division, show that seven defendants were arraigned in Charge No. BOHC/MG/CR/2024 between the State and the accused persons.
