Law Enforcement officer Chimoney Abrahams and Fatiya Handino.

In a heart-stopping incident in Blue Downs, a father has expressed his gratitude to law enforcement officers for their response in rescuing his five-year-old daughter from a hijacking and robbery ordeal.

Shkur Amadin, a shopkeeper, recounted the harrowing details of the event that transpired outside his shop on May 21, when his little girl, Fatiya Handino, was taken by the suspects who pretended to be customers before fleeing with his cellphone, R1 400 in cash, and Hilux bakkie with Fatiya inside.

“We had just come from shopping and these guys came to the shop, two of them, one of whom was purchasing bubblegum inside the shop," he said.

"My daughter was in the car.”
