MANCHERIALPeddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna has called upon the Congress party cadre to remain vigilant and protect voters’ rights during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of (SIR) of electoral rolls.“The right to vote is a sacred democratic right granted by the Indian Constitution,” he said, while addressing the party functionaries and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at an awareness programme held in Mancherial town on Sunday.He stressed that the purity and accuracy of electoral rolls are essential for strengthening democracy.Mr. Vamsi Krishna called upon the BLAs to conduct door-to-door verification of voter lists to ensure that no eligible voter’s name is deleted and all eligible youngsters, who have turned 18, are enrolled as voters.He urged them to promptly report cases of migration, deaths and address changes to election authorities. Every party cadre should remain alert and counter attempts, if any, to remove names of eligible voters, he said.A host of Congress party functionaries, leaders of the party’s frontal organisations — Indian Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, Sewa Dal and NSUI — were among those who attended the awareness-cum-training session, a press release said.
