Not just the sky, but space is the limit for those who seriously pursue legal profession, said the newly elected Mangaluru Bar Association president Jagadish Shenava on Saturday.He was speaking after being felicitated, along with newly elected Moodbidri Bar Association president Sharath Shetty, at an event organised by Alva’s Law College, Moodbidri. Mr. Shenava said the name, respect, and financial success that can be attained in legal profession are unmatched by any other field.Mr. Shenava said he had initially dreamt of becoming a doctor but could not pursue that goal after failing in pre-university (PU) science course. He said that failure paved the way for his success. Recalling his college days, he said he won the election for college president and later became president of the All College Students’ Union.Mr. Shenava noted that many national leaders and social reformers came from legal backgrounds. Lawyers, he said, need not be confined to courtrooms but can become effective leaders, policymakers, and experts in the corporate sector. He also noted that the profession was held in high esteem in Dakshina Kannada.Mr. Sharath Shetty said lawyers play an important role in ensuring justice, equality, and the implementation of law in society. He said that although he initially wanted to become a politician, he later developed an interest in the legal field and chose to become a lawyer.Later in the event, Alva’s Education Foundation Managing Trustee Vivek Alva also spoke.
