The 2026 FIFA World Cup is only a few days old, but history is already being made across North America.
Here are five notable records and milestones that have fallen during the opening matches of the tournament:
1. Canada Earns Its First-Ever World Cup Point
After losing all six of its previous World Cup matches across the 1986 and 2022 tournaments, Canada finally got off the mark with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The result ended one of the longest winless starts in World Cup history and delivered Canada’s first point at the global finals.
