Femi One to Otile Brown: Accept highs and lows in your music career [Courtesy]
Kenyan rapper Femi One has sparked talk after appearing to respond to singer Otile Brown’s recent remarks about “fighting demons” during a period of reduced musical output.
In a social media post, Femi One said career highs and lows are a normal part of the music industry and urged artists to focus on building strong brands beyond releasing trending songs.
She wrote, “Wasanii wakikosa trendy song wanasema they were fighting demons; it's part of the process, guys. Kuna kupanda na kushuka, there’s so much more that makes a brand other than making a trendy song; maybe start focusing on those other aspects ndio ukikosa trendy usifeel ni kama you are lagging.”
The comments followed Otile Brown’s recent interview in which he opened up about personal challenges during a quieter period in his career, saying he was “fighting demons” and undergoing a process of personal transformation.
