Their current abundance of wines really impresses. Yes, there are the standard pinot grigios and malbecs, but also on offer are some more esoteric wines and styles: orange wines, pet nats, chilled reds, and little-known grape varieties from lesser-known regions.
All of this amounts to greater opportunities for us, the customer, to discover something new. As M&S buyer Celani Dingwall explained to me: “We’re focused on making the M&S wine aisle feel like a place of discovery – bringing customers new, exciting and sometimes unexpected wines.”

This is an achievement when you remember that a £7 wine is now the new £5 wine, thanks to our government’s unrelentingly punishing taxation system.
