Our children are still dying. Is the system broken?

Are we doing enough to protect children against crime?

The South African Police Service (SAPS) said it remains committed to intensifying efforts to combat abuse, exploitation and violence against minors nationwide, but is the system failing our children?

SAPS released statistics stating 15,888 suspects were arrested and 2,773 convicted for crimes against children over the past year. The figures were released as Child Protection Month came to an end

However, as children continue to die daily on the streets, is this enough?

Globally, an estimated 1 billion children (ages two –17) experience physical, sexual, or emotional violence annually.
