Late last night the US government took the dramatic step of issuing an order limiting access to the latest Anthropic AI model, called Fable, for all non-American nationals, including those that worked on it – claiming it was for national security reasons.
In response the company withdrew the model for everyone, saying that was the only way it could comply. Fable was only released a few days ago, and was widely regarded as the most powerful available to the public.
