President Donald Trump says a peace deal with Iran will be signed Sunday despite Tehran pushing back on claims that it will be finalized imminently.Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Saturday, “The deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL. Our relationship with Iran is a much different and better one than previous administrations have had.” He continued, “We look forward to working with Iran, and the entire Middle East, long into the future. Hopefully, this process will all work out quickly, easily, and smoothly. If it doesn’t, we have the ultimate alternative, hopefully never to be used again!”Earlier Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei cautioned against commenting on the timing the signing, stating, "We will have to wait and see about the exact date of the signing of the memorandum of understanding, although it will not be tomorrow.”Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif said the United States and Iran agreed upon a framework for a peace deal, which aims to conclude the months-long conflict in the Middle East, and that Islamabad was preparing for an electronic signing Sunday to be followed by technical-level talks next week.It comes amid reports that Trump was actively working to secure a peace agreement with Iran before the G7 summit, which starts Monday.
