The Kochi City cyber police are planning to submit a report on a complaint against controversial social media personality Mohammed Nihad, known as ‘Thoppi’, to the State cyber operations wing.The cyber police are preparing the report after the State Police Chief ordered a probe into a series of allegations against Thoppi and his former associates, all of whom are popular on streaming platforms, including YouTube.The complaint was filed by lawyer Sreejith Perumana based on the allegations reportedly levelled by members of the group against each other after they parted ways recently. The complaint mentioning alleged offences including sexual abuse of minors, drug use, and obscenity was forwarded to the Kochi City cyber police by the cyber operations wing for further action.“As per preliminary verification, the alleged crimes have not taken place within the jurisdiction of the Kochi City cyber police. So, a case cannot be registered here. The cyber police will, however, prepare a report analysing all available videos mentioning the allegations against Thoppi and others and submit a report to the State wing at the earliest,” a senior official with the Kochi City police said on Saturday (June 13, 2026). The official added that State officials were likely to make a decision on the further course of action on the complaint based on the report.Thoppi was arrested by the Valanchery police in June 2023 for allegedly causing a traffic block and use of abusive language in public. Soon after, the Kannapuram police in Kannur had booked him for circulating a video with obscene conversations. In April 2025, he was taken into police custody for allegedly threatening a private bus crew at Vadakara in Kozhikode.Hailing from Mangad in Kannur, Thoppi has a huge fan following, mostly teenagers, on streaming platforms.
