MDMK Principal Secretary and Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko submitted a petition regarding constituency development to Madurai Divisional Railway Manager Om Prakash Meena here on Saturday.Addressing the media, he stated: “Tamil Nadu government has urged the Centre not to permit Karnataka to construct the Mekedatu dam.”There were more than 20 outfits in the DMK alliance. Currently, some among them have left. The DMK leadership has to comment on the parties currently remaining in the alliance, he stated.Regarding MDMK continuing in the DMK front, he said the party general secretary Vaiko will make a statement after convening the general body meeting on June 27 and seeking the opinions of office-bearers.“It cannot be denied that there is an electricity shortage and power outages in Tamil Nadu. Problems have persisted in the two sectors of electricity and transport for the past 20 years. It cannot be rectified in a single month,” he said.He said the TVK government must implement reforms. The problem continues currently only because of the mistakes made by several previous governments.“No one expected this Assembly election results. People have proven through this election that there is no longer any room for caste, religion, or money. This election is a time for all parties to introspect,” he noted. We can move forward only if we conduct a self-examination as to why the people did not support us and why they supported TVK, he added.“Great personalities have lost to those with no political background. This shows that people have voted for Vijay’s face without looking at the candidates. People have voted to make a change and to put an end to the politics of caste, religion, money, and corruption,” Mr. Durai Vaiko stated. If parties do not realise this, introspect, and reform themselves, no party will survive, he added.
