The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University in Ayingba, Kogi State, has confirmed the arrest of two students of the institution allegedly linked to the killing of a 300-level Biochemistry undergraduate student, David Ocholi Solomon.
The school authorities said investigations had been intensified into the incident that has thrown the institution into mourning.
The arrest of the two students accused of being responsible for the murder was disclosed on Saturday by the university's Vice-Chancellor, Prof Salisu Usman Ogbo, during a condolence visit to the deceased student's family in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
According to Ogbo, the suspects were arrested by the institution's internal security personnel shortly after the incident occurred and were subsequently handed over to law enforcement authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Speaking during the visit, the Vice-Chancellor described the killing as a tragic development that has left members of the university community devastated.
