Goh Kong Meng, the 57-year-old driver, said the incident took place around 9:30 p.m. on June 9 after he picked up three men near the Taman Sri Yaacob industrial area and was driving them to Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, The Star newspaper reported.

Goh said the passengers appeared intoxicated when they entered his vehicle. During the journey, he repeatedly reminded them to fasten their seat belts, but they ignored his requests and became increasingly hostile, Free Malaysia Today reported.

Fearing for his safety, Goh decided to cancel the ride and instructed the men to get out of the car. He claimed the situation quickly turned violent.

According to Goh's account, one of the passengers grabbed him from behind by the neck while the other two repeatedly punched him in the head and face.

The three suspects fled the scene after noticing a motorcyclist approaching, who assisted Goh by contacting the police.
