While the Northeast and Midwest catch a bit of a break from intense heat and humidity the weekend of June 13, that won't be the case across the scorching Southeast, where "hazardous" heat is forecast through Sunday, June 14.How hot? Temperatures will soar well into the 90s and near 100 degrees, with punishing humidity. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee, Florida, said that, due to the heat, "those without access to adequate cooling or hydration should take actions such as staying indoors in A/C or shade, staying hydrated, or taking frequent breaks."Elsewhere, although cooler and drier air behind a cold front will spread into the eastern U.S. on Saturday, high temperatures will remain well into the 80s to lower 90s, NOAA's Weather Prediction Center said in an online forecast.These will be among the first truly hot days in the Southeast this year. "Early season heat can often be more dangerous and pose a greater risk for heat-related illness," the WPC said.Arctic air in the Midwest?Cooler weather will be the story in the upper Midwest and around the Great Lakes. "The flow out of the northwest is straight from the Arctic: cool and dry," said Weather Trader meteorologist Ryan Maue in an email to USA TODAY.
