Mumbai Customs officials have arrested a model at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport for allegedly attempting to smuggle ganja valued at approximately ₹11.82 crore, officials told ANI.The accused, identified as Harsha Sunny, had arrived in Mumbai from Thailand when she was intercepted by Customs authorities.Also Read: Ahmedabad customs recover smuggled gold worth over Rs 4 crore from flight arriving from DubaiOver 11 kg hydroponic weed recoveredDuring a detailed examination of her baggage, officials recovered 11.824 kg of ganja, identified as hydroponic weed.According to Customs officials, the seized contraband has an illicit market value of ₹11,82,40,000. Field testing confirmed the presence of the narcotic substance, following which it was seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.Accused claims bag was handed over by fellow passengerDuring questioning, the accused reportedly told investigators that a fellow passenger she met during the journey had temporarily handed over the bag containing the drugs before disappearing.However, Customs officials said they believe the claim was made to avoid legal consequences and dismissed the explanation.Further probe underwayFollowing the recovery of the contraband, the passenger was placed under arrest. Officials said further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged smuggling attempt and identify any possible links connected to the case.
