England and Manchester United legend David Beckham was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, becoming the first soccer player to receive the honor.The 51-year-old Inter Miami co-owner had his name added to Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California in a ceremony alongside his wife Victoria, three of their children Romeo, Cruz and Harper, and American actor Tom Cruise.Beckham spent much of his career playing for Europe’s biggest clubs, graduating from Manchester United’s academy before signing for Real Madrid in 2003. He had short stints with AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain towards the end of his career.He increased his presence and popularity stateside when he signed for Major League Soccer team LA Galaxy in 2007 in a landmark move for the U.S. He is a co-owner of Inter Miami, who joined the league as an expansion side in 2020 and won the MLS Cup in 2025.During and after his playing career, Beckham transcended the sport and became a mainstream figure in fashion and popular culture. Walk of Fame stars are most commonly given to Hollywood-famous actors or musicians, though some athletes have been presented with a star in the ‘sports entertainment’ category.
