Kyle Sean Barnett (inset) crashed his car during a seizure-like episode, killing pedestrian Adrian Bell and injuring another person.
On the day Adrian Bell died he told his sister he'd see her soon and they'd go out for dinner to celebrate her birthday.
But the 27-year-old wasn't able to keep that promise - he was hit by a car and killed while walking along a street in Hamilton on April 26, 2021.
Now the man responsible, Kyle Sean Barnett, has avoided going to jail after Bell's compassionate family said they weren't out for vengeance - an act described as "laudable" by the sentencing judge.
