In our How I Manage My Money series, we aim to find out how people are spending, saving and investing money to meet their costs and achieve their goals. This week, in our celebrity edition, we speak to football commentator Guy Mowbray, 54, who talks about growing up in a household where money was never discussed, contributing to the family finances from his first supermarket job at 16, and why he checks his investments on a spreadsheet every single day.
What was money like in your household when you were growing up?
I wasn’t really exposed to it. I couldn’t have told you whether we were struggling or well off because it was never discussed.
If I wanted something, I was never told, “No, we can’t afford it.” I was just told, “No.”
