chilly winter weekend awaits South Africa, with coastal regions facing scattered showers and rough seas.
South Africans can expect a cold and largely dry winter weekend, although coastal regions along the southern and eastern seaboard will continue to experience scattered showers and brisk conditions.
On Saturday, the highest chances of rainfall will be concentrated along the southern Cape coast, where a 60% chance of rain is forecast. Light to moderate showers are expected across parts of the Garden Route and surrounding coastal areas.
Further east, isolated showers with a 30% chance of rain are expected along the KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape coastlines. The remainder of the country, including Gauteng, the Free State, North West and much of the Northern Cape, is expected to remain dry under stable weather conditions.
Sea conditions will remain hazardous along sections of the southern coastline, where a Yellow Level 1 warning for damaging waves is in place. Rough seas may pose a risk to small vessels, particularly during the morning hours.
