Folarin Balogun announced himself on the biggest stage in international soccer with a historic performance for the USMNT at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 24-year-old forward scored twice in the first half against Paraguay on June 12, helping the United States men's national soccer team race to a 3-0 halftime lead in its tournament opener. "We decided it would be the right thing for me, to represent the country I was born in. In the end it became a no-brainer, but for sure, it’s just something I wanted to do and it feels like I’m at home here.”He also revealed that his family fully supported the move, especially his mother. "When I broke the news to my family they were all just over the moon, especially my mom. She said, ‘What took you so long?’, so for sure we were all on the same page.
