Updated June 13, 2026 — 11:50am,first published 11:41amA woman in her 30s is in a critical condition after being bitten by a shark at Coogee Beach in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said the woman had serious arm and leg injuries.NSW Police said emergency services were called to the beach before 11.15am, following reports a swimmer had been bitten by a shark.Police said the woman was pulled from the water by members of the public who commenced first aid before the arrival of emergency services.Police cleared nearby Coogee Oval to facilitate the landing of the CareFlight helicopter to airlift the woman to hospital.
