October 1, 2027: yes, it’s nearly 500 days in the future. But in a world where the release date for The Batman Part II has shifted an alarming number of times, fans can finally grasp a shred of reassurance that Matt Reeves’ much-anticipated sequel will actually arrive as planned. That reassurance came from the writer-director himself today, who made like his buddy, DC Studios head James Gunn, to share an exciting image on social media.

It’s just a slate—not a fresh glimpse of a black-clad Robert Pattinson setting his features to “glower”—but hey, we’ll take it. Here we go indeed! #FirstShot #TheBatmanPart2 CC:@E_Messerschmidt Here We Go… pic.twitter.com/BfzjNquZwT — Matt Reeves (@mattreevesLA) June 12, 2026 As of right now, all we really know about The Batman Part II is its release date, the fact that it’s started filming, and its cast members (although we don’t yet know who the new additions, recently confirmed by Reeves, will be playing).

We can, however, confidently say it’ll be another dark tale set in Gotham. The Batman Part II stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez, and Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál. It will also feature Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Brian Tyree Henry, Charles Dance, and Sebastian Koch. We wouldn’t count out Barry Keoghan, but so far that’s just a guess.
