According to the ADC, Tinubu’s address was “long on promises and short on answers,” insisting that Nigerians were once again told to wait for prosperity while grappling with worsening economic realities.
The opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) has attacked President Bola Tinubu over his Democracy Day address, accusing him of failing to account for his administration’s failures and continuing to make promises despite poor performance after three years in office.
In a statement issued on Friday, the opposition party said President Tinubu’s Democracy Day speech reflected the posture of a politician seeking re-election rather than that of a leader whose administration is entering its fourth year in office with failures.
The ADC also criticized the National Assembly for proceeding on recess on Democracy Day, describing the development as disappointing at a time when Nigerians were demanding greater accountability from elected officials.
While acknowledging the significance of June 12 and the sacrifices made by pro-democracy activists, the party argued that the President missed an opportunity to explain how democratic governance under his administration had improved the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
