A group of candidates, who appeared for the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) examination in October 2025 for filling up 1,996 vacancies in graduate teachers’ posts, on Friday urged the government to issue an addendum order to fill up fresh vacancies so that they could be considered for recruitment.Addressing a press conference, P. Gnanambikai, one of the candidates, said the Education Management Information System (EMIS) portal reportedly showed close to 2,000 vacancies as on January 2026. Since the recruitment exam was held last year after a gap of three years, it would help in safeguarding their livelihood if the government issued an addendum order to fill up the remaining vacancies with candidates who appeared for the October 2026 examination. She said that after the exam, nearly 3,000 candidates who appeared for the exam but did not qualify for recruitment have joined together to form a social media group.
