Remember the song Pehla Nasha? The chartbuster starring Aamir Khan and Ayesha Jhulka from the 1992 blockbuster Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander was one of the most celebrated romantic anthems in the 90s. In a chat with actors Sharvari and Vedang Raina, director-choreographer Farah Khan shared some interesting anecdotes about the song. The Om Shanti Om director said the song was filmed in 1990 and was shot thrice with three different heroines. “They kept changing until finally Ayesha Jhulka came on board and we shot with her in 1992 January,” she recalled. Several years ago, filmmaker Mansoor Khan shared that the film was not inspired by Breaking Away, contrary to what many people believed. He explained that as early as 1981, he had envisioned creating a story centered on an underachiever who eventually discovers confidence, purpose, and success. The concept was closely linked to his own experiences and emotional struggles during that period.Mansoor also revealed that Pooja Bedi’s role Devika was originally offered to actress Nagma but she backed out just four days before the filming started as she was not happy with the role. “I had told her right from the beginning that she was not the heroine. I don’t want to blame her, but the least she could have done was to inform me. You can’t hang up on me when I’m planning a forty-day outdoor schedule. Later, of course, she came to me and said it was the biggest mistake of her life,” he said. Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander hit theatres in 1992 and became one of the biggest hits that year.
