Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has warned against insecurity and violent extremism, declaring that “terrorists and merchants of public anxiety” will not be tolerated in the state.
Otti made the remarks in his Democracy Day address delivered on Friday, stressing that the state government would continue to resist individuals or groups who, in his words, exploit public fear for personal or political gain.
He said, “We have a definite responsibility to resist those who profit from misery. Terrorists and merchants of public anxiety, by whatever name they go by, have no place in our land.”.
The governor said the fight against insecurity requires firm and coordinated action, adding that authorities must deploy all lawful means to confront terrorism and protect vulnerable populations.
