June 12 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin city is asking residents to be on the lookout for a skunk named Violet that escaped from her enclosure at a local zoo.
The City of Marshfield issued a public alert revealing the skunk, who has lived at the Wildwood Zoo for the past two years, escaped from the facility earlier this week.
"At this time, we believe a combination of this year's flash flooding and heavy snowfall may have deteriorated a portion of the exhibit's foundation, creating an opening through which Violet was able to escape," officials wrote.
Zookeepers believe the current mating season for striped skunks may have also played a role in Violet's escape.
