Theft of hard disks from TNPDCL: Case transferred to CB-CIDThe probe into the recent theft of hard disks and other computer components from the headquarters of the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) in Chennai has been transferred to the Crime Branch-CID of the Tamil Nadu police .The theft case, initially handled by the Greater Chennai Police, was transferred by Director General of Police Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal considering the sensitive nature of the case, police sources said.2. YouTuber Maridhas arrested YouTuber Maridhas was arrested in Madurai in a case registered by the Chennai Cyber Crime Wing on charges of posting “derogatory and obscene” remarks on social media about a woman Minister in Tamil Nadu.He was picked up by a special team of Chennai police in Madurai this morning (June 8, 2026) and brought to Chennai later. The police claimed he published videos and posts against Ministers, including a woman member of the Cabinet headed by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. The police said he also made remarks against ruling TVK functionaries. 3. CM Vijay plays chess with Grandmaster PraggnanandhaaFollowing his recent victory at the prestigious Norway Chess tournament, Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at the Secretariat in Chennai. During the meeting, Mr. Vijay congratulated him and took him by surprise by playing chess with the young Grandmaster.The Chief Minister also presented a cheque for ₹50 lakh to him.
