Veteran local football coach Donovan Duckie has resigned his post as head coach of Jamaica Premier League outfit Phoenix Chapelton Maroons with immediate effect.Duckie, who has been head coach of the Clarendon-based team since the start of last season, handed in his resignation letter to club president Kaycia Butler yesterday."Please accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation as head coach of the Chapelton Maroons effective immediately, June 11 2026,” Duckie said in a letter to Butler."I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to serve the club,” he said. "It has been an honour to work with the players, staff and management during my time as the head coach.“I appreciate the experiences, challenges and memories shared during my tenure,” Duckie said.He added that the decision was not an easy one, but he felt that now was the right time to step away.“The decision was not an easy one, but after careful consideration I believe it is right to step away for my personal and professional growth. I remain thankful for the support and trust placed in me during with time with the organisation,” Duckie stated.Meanwhile when contacted, technical director of Chapelton Maroons, Craig Butler, said he had no comment.Chapelton Maroons finished eighth in the 2025-26 JPL season with 49 points.
