The new cabinet members were sworn in on Friday at the Presidential Palace following Monday’s mini-reshuffle.

Giorgos Kotsiras was appointed deputy transport minister. Dimitris Markopoulos took over as deputy minister of economy and finance with responsibility for tax policy. Marilena Soukouli was named deputy environment and energy minister, while Tasos Chatzivasileiou was appointed deputy foreign minister for European affairs.

The cabinet reshuffle took place amid speculation about the timing of the next general election, which is currently scheduled for 2027. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday dismissed rumors of an early vote, telling journalists that elections would be held in the spring and quipping that “we’ll be voting in sweater weather.”
