Adapted from Carley Fortune's beloved Every Summer After book, the series follows obituary writer Percy Fraser (played by Sadie Soverall) as she confronts her complicated past.‌The 28-year-old grew up spending summer holidays in the lake town of Barry's Bay, where she met the Florek brothers, Sam (Matt Cornett) and Charlie (Michael Bradway).‌She quickly formed a bond with Sam, which blossomed into a romance over the years. That is until Percy makes a huge mistake that forces her to leave the Bay for a decade.As the show unfolds, viewers learn that Percy left because she betrayed Sam by sleeping with his elder brother, Charlie. This leads to a major falling out between the trio.‌While Sam and Percy slowly work towards reconciliation, Charlie completely buries himself in his corporate job.In the finale, Charlie unexpectedly stumbles upon a photo of himself, Sam and Percy in his office. It turns out his boss' wife bought the photograph at a gallery and framed it, unaware who the teenagers in the image were.Before leaving the office, Charlie takes a final moment to admire the picture but he becomes overwhelmed by emotion and collapses. He actually suffers a heart attack after being reminded of home.Actor Bradway explained the scene to Deadline when the show hit screens.‌"It was a heart attack. We’re gonna let Percy have the panic attacks.
