Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar on Friday (June 12, 2026) said notices were issued on June 9 to four former AIADMK MLAs who voted in favour of the Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay-led government, when they were members of the House, during the confidence vote on May 13, defying the directions of the party whip.Notices were issued by the Assembly Secretariat to S. Jayakumar, P. Sathyabama, Maragatham Kumaravel, and Esaki Subaya, who were among the 25 rebel AIADMK MLAs who voted in favour of the TVK-led government and later resigned from their posts as legislators and joined the TVK. Barring these four, the remaining 21 rebel MLAs were condoned by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami after they reconciled with the party.Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat in Chennai, Mr. Prabhakar said the four former MLAs would have to respond within a week from the date of issuance of the notices.Training programme for MLAsFurther, the Speaker said a two-day training programme on June 16 and 17 will be organised by the Assembly Secretariat at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai for all MLAs to familiarise themselves with Assembly proceedings.Mr. Vijay will inaugurate the training programme, and all legislators, irrespective of their prior experience, will be invited to attend.
