LUCENA CITY — Taal Volcano’s sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions have significantly decreased after several days of elevated activity, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin on Friday, Phivolcs said only 188 metric tons (MT) of SO2 were emitted from the volcano’s main crater over the past 24 hours.
The volcanic plume reached up to 1,200 meters before drifting east and southeast.
