The 60th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) has unveiled its retrospective and heritage program.Out of the Past – KVIFF 60/80 will mark 60 editions and 80 years since the festival’s inception by presenting “pivotal films” from KVIFF’s history. And the Special Screenings – Classics section will feature a special program dedicated to the history of cinema.

Highlights from the latter include the international premiere of the movie The Hanging of Stuart Cornfeld, a portrait of the independent producer and visionary Stuart Cornfeld (The Elephant Man, Kafka, The Fly), and The Killing of a Chinese Bookie, the latest Karlovy Vary screening of a movie directed by John Cassavetes.

Meanwhile, KVIFF will screen Trainspotting and Sexy Beast in its Out of the Past program.

Last year, KVIFF’s retrospective paid tribute to Hollywood star and method acting pioneer John Garfield (The Postman Always Rings Twice), who made a name for himself by playing brooding working-class characters in the 1940s.
