My personal style signifier is Christophe Lemaire, whose designs I’ve been wearing since his brand was a small store on rue de Poitou in Paris. His designs are elegant, he does great tailoring and I really like his colour palette. Working in cinema is tricky because I have to look smart, but I’m not an actress, so I can’t be in a ballgown. If I’m at a film festival, I start the day looking professional and carry that same outfit through to screenings and maybe a dinner or party afterwards. Lemaire answers all of those questions. Most recently I’ve bought a denim suit in moss green. I pair it with a Paris-based knitwear brand called Molli – I travel quite a lot so I can’t be ironing dresses – or Phoebe Philo shirts, shoes and silver jewellery.

My red carpet survival kit always includes sunglasses – mine are from Celine. You’ve got photographers on both sides, so if there’s a malfunction going on they can hide that. Another one is sensible shoes: you go up a lot of stairs on the red carpet, so you don’t want to be panicking about falling over, which happens to me a lot. And mind your hands! I fold mine in front of me, or hide them behind my back or in my pockets.
