The killing of a veteran Toronto tactical officer during a “high-risk takedown” in a raid investigators have linked to a shooting at the U.S. Consulate has been met with a flood of grief and swirling questions.

The sun was rising early Thursday morning when members of the Toronto police’s elite Emergency Task Force moved to execute a search inside a highrise on Martha Eaton Way in North York, near Trethewey and Black Creek drives, the Special Investigations Unit said.
