Sources indicated the Phillies had been in talks with Chicago about Hill before Adolis García’s right shoulder injury, suffered on Wednesday against the Toronto Blue Jays, and it remains unclear how much time García will miss. The trade was first reported by ESPN.Hill, 30, has hit .213/.284/.375 in 90 plate appearances this season. Most of his time has come against left-handers; he has a .789 OPS against them. For his career, Hill has a .780 OPS against lefties. He has been used as a platoon player for much of his seven-year, big-league career. It would make sense, then, if Hill were to form part of a platoon — potentially with Phillies outfield prospect Gabriel Rincones Jr., who would play against right-handed pitchers. The Phillies are sending prospects Dylan Campbell and Jose Colmenares to the White Sox. In addition to Hill, the Phillies are receiving $250,000 in international bonus pool money, sources said.
