Jake Quickenden is said to be in 'advanced talks' with the BBC to join the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing, alongside Lacey Turner and Dani Dyer20:15, 11 Jun 2026A former I'm A Celebrity star is in "advanced talks" to appear on Strictly Come Dancing. Jake Quickenden is no stranger to reality telly, having first found fame on The X Factor in 2012.‌Just two years later, he returned to the talent show and was the fifth person to leave the live shows. Since then, he's gone on to appear on shows such as I'm A Celebrity in 2014, finishing in second place.‌Four years later, Jake found himself on Dancing on Ice with professional skater Vanessa Bauer, and the pair went on to win. And it's now claimed that newly-single Jake is a firm favourite amongst bosses at Strictly who are hoping he'll be ready to spice up the dancefloor when the show returns.‌It's claimed that Jake's presence at the BBC has been boosted after he joined the football drama, Jamie Johnson FC. "Jake has caught the eye of the Strictly bookers," a source said. They went on to add to The Sun: "He's fun, hunky and known as an all-round nice guy. He's an actor and singer, so is a natural performer. And he won Dancing On Ice, so has clearly got the moves." They added that it would be "good timing" for Jake, following the recent breakdown of his four-year marriage to Sophie Church.‌Just two years ago, Quickenden said: "I don't think there's been many people that have gone from Dancing on Ice to Strictly, but if it ever came around, I'd love to do it."This year, should Jake sign on the dotted line, he would be joining EastEnders actress Lacey Turner, who was the first famous face to be announced, as well as Love Island's Dani Dyer, who is returning to the show after being forced to withdraw last year. The former Love Island star and wife of West Ham footballer Jarod Bowen said of her return: "I am so excited to be back in the ballroom this September! I just cannot wait to get my dancing shoes back on, and hopefully this time around I can actually make it to week one!‌"I'm just over the moon and cannot wait to find out who else is doing it!" Meanwhile, Lacey Turner said of her decision to sign up: "I am so excited to being making my way to the dance floor this year to be a part of Strictly Come Dancing! I am a huge fan and can’t quite believe I will be taking part and not watching at home this year! I look forward to meeting everyone and learning a new skill!"Amid the shake-up, sources claim that the show will have a fresh new look upon its return. The dance floor is likely to undergo a makeover, with bosses currently deciding whether to change the iconic backdrop, which has become extremely familiar to viewers. The current studio, the George Lucas studio at Elstree, is made up of bright coloured panels, lights and some screens. But sources claim this could switch to larger screens that display visuals during routines. "It was natural that bosses look at giving the show a whole new look as it enters a new era, but they aren't ditching the traditional presentation of the show, just the way it is delivered," a source previously told The Sun.Article continues belowStrictly Come Dancing declined to comment when approached by the Mirror.Like this story?
