The Katsina State Police Command says it arrested 225 suspects involved in various criminal activities and rescued 17 kidnapped victims in May 2026 as part of intensified operations across the state.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday at the Command headquarters in Katsina on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said the Command had strengthened intelligence-led operations and collaboration with other security agencies to tackle kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling and arms trafficking.

“Within the period under review, the Command has intensified its fight against kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling and arms trafficking through intelligence-led operations, inter-agency collaboration and sustained patrols across identified hotspots,” Aliyu said.

He disclosed that the Command arrested seven suspected kidnappers, 10 armed robbery suspects, one suspected bandit, two informants and 21 suspected drug peddlers. “Others arrested included 10 murder suspects, 36 persons linked to rape and sodomy cases, 13 suspected social miscreants and 130 suspects involved in other offences.

“One hundred and fifty-two major cases were recorded during the month, with 109 already charged to court following the completion of investigations”, according to him.
