June 11 (UPI) -- The Denver Broncos signed coach Sean Payton to a five-year contract, the team announced Thursday.
Payton, who joined the AFC West franchise through a 2023 trade with the New Orleans Saints, led the Broncos to a 32-19 record over the last three seasons. The Broncos were 14-3 in 2025 en route to the AFC title game, which they lost the the New England Patriots.
Payton was already under contract through the next two seasons. His new pact will replace that deal, keeping Payton under contract through 2030. The Broncos also signed general manager George Paton last month. Paton also is under contract through 2030.
"Sean Payton has led an impressive turnaround over the past three seasons, instilling a winning culture with high expectations," Broncos owner Greg Penner said. "I appreciate the close partnership he shares with George Paton along with the alignment and stability across our football operations.
