New Zealand continues to face challenges controlling short-term electricity price volatility, with more investment in long-term renewable energy required.
"Our long-term challenge is scaling-up electricity infrastructure to power a larger, low-carbon economy," NZ Infrastructure Commission general manager Peter Nunns said.
"We need to avoid undue regulatory hurdles and ensure there's sufficient competition to build new generation."
